It's on
Apparently the power came back on about 5pm yesterday.
And stayed on all night.
And was still on when I got up this morning.
Yay.

Power, Part 2
About 45 min. to an hour after my last post, just before I left for work in fact, the power went out again. I was...un-thrilled. I'd just finished running around the house re-setting all the clocks. I'd just gotten rid of the 2nd bag of ice because 2 wouldn't fit in my freezer. I'd just gotten all my hopes up, only to have them dashed!
According to the clocks the power came back on right around 5pm, so at least it wasn't off too long that time. Of course, I spent my whole day at work wondering if I had power and if not, how much of my food could I save.
The frozen stuff should all be fine. It was still mostly frozen when the power came back the first time. I'm worried about the milk, the sour cream and the cottage cheese. I may just toss all of that to be sure. (Or see if I can cook with it before it gets too bad!)

I have the POWER!!!!
When I got home from the bar last night there was no electricity. My next-door neighbor, Phil, was wandering about outside and told me it had been off since 330pm. So I called ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) justnate who was supposed to be joining me for post-bar dinner and a movie. He answered the phone with a guilty-sounding, "I'm talking to Timmie!!" I explained that I wasn't calling to bitch him out for not being here but to tell him I had no power, so there'd be no movie and dinner would be an adventure. (I've got a gas stove, but I still had to cook in the dark and avoid opening the fridge.) He decided not to come over.
I managed to find a couple of candles (I love candles, but I have Monkey-Kitten, so yeah, not such a good idea) and read til 330am or so. Then I went to bed.
I woke up about 1130am and still had no power. I tried to call the park office to find out if they had any estimate for restoral, but they didn't answer. So I got up and went out for ice. (This is the second time I've had a 20+ hour power outage the day after going shopping. Last time was 48 hours!) I bought 30 lbs. of ice, one big bag and one small bag. I was going to set up 2 ice chests, one for food and one for soda. But when I arrived back home...
POWER!
So I stuffed the big bag of ice in the freezer and spread the small bag around the yard. Since then, I've been wandering around the house re-setting the clocks.
And one more thing: Did anyone tape last night's Season Finale of Supernatural? If so, can I borrow the tape? Please? I missed last season's finale due to a VCR mishap and now I lost this season's as well.

[Link] | I don't mind the warm weather. Actually, I kind of like it. Mostly, it's the warm nights that I love and I'll easily take the heat to get them.
That's why this type of weather is known as "Sniffle-Weather".
However, I am annoyed because this current heat wave is killing my pansies! It's not doing much for my Columbine or Linaria (Toadflax) either.

There was a weekend
It mostly sucked.
Saturday was the BayCon Meeting from Hell and then work, where I got stuck on the Duty Desk all day.
Sunday was actually not bad, just busy. I got up early and went to my parents house to surprise my mom for Mother's Day. Surprise! She wasn't home. I tracked her down at somebodyssister's house and did get to visit for a little while. Then I came back across the hill and picked up besspeacetime. The plan was that I would take her out and entertain her while ozzwepay went out and bought her birthday present. So she and I went out and had lunch and went shopping. Then we went back to their place and hung out for a bit.
I came home about 9:30 and stayed just long enough to change into a warmer shirt for the evening and check if firestrike wanted to come with me to KoC. He was tired, so he passed.
I had fun at the bar. When I got home Firestrike was already in bed. I wasn't sleepy yet so I hung out in the front room til 4:30ish. When I got to bed Firestrike was completely buried under all the blankets. He'd even found an extra one and pulled them all up over his head. He woke up enough to complain about how cold it was. I hadn't noticed, but I'd been drinking. He felt really warm, but I just thought it was because he'd been asleep under all those blankets, and I'd been drinking. (My skin temp drops a lot when I drink.)
Until 5:30ish when he suddenly ran to the bathroom to be sick.
Apparently, he had the stomach flu.
Monday was spent at my place waiting for him to feel well enough for the long trip back to his place. We finally left here around 10pm and made it to his place about 12:30.
I went to work today but started feeling strange; head-achey and a little queasy, so I came home, just in case. I've felt a little off all evening but I haven't thrown up, so that's a good sign.
Of course, now my left eye hurts as if it's developing a sty...

Wow.
Massive wank-fest over in ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) cat_macros. I'm always amazed at how mean some people can be. (Short version: Cat gets hit by car and dies. Owner posts pictures (Of live cat!) and asks for macros. Indoor v. outdoor cat debate rages. Wanker macros OP's cat with "Thanks for killing me, Mom" captions. Wanker gets banned. Community in uproar.)
In other news, work's been weird all week. Not just for me, for the whole office. Really strange and special people calling. Got a woman today who bitched me out because the Pow-Wow office was on a voice-mail. And she needed to talk to someone!!!!!!!!!!!!! I offered her the website info but, NO! Not good enough.
Last night at work I swallowed wrong as I was answering and wound up choking and coughing on a call with an Attending! (Attendings are the gods of teaching hospitals. It goes; Med Student, Intern, Resident, Fellow, Attending, God. House is an Attending.) Thanfully it was Dr. Dodd. Who is a) a nice guy and b) been at S~ since he was a resident and, therefore, been talking to me on the phone for 5 years. His response to my coughging fit? "Cindi...Cindi? Quit smoking!"

I gotta say...
I like bikercat's style!
She arrived at yesterday's meeting in leather chaps (Hey, she's not called BikerCat for nothing!) and long, gorgeous handpainted nails in shades of white and blue with yellow accents.
And then proceeded to toss off one-liners until someone (I believe it was chiefted) threatened to hire a drummer to follow her around performing rim-shots when appropriate.

She's not dead.
She did, however, get to ride in a shiny ambulance.
segajenison passed out at work and was sent to Valley Med. Where they informed her that she was dehydrated.
She went to the hospital last summer for dehydration.
They put 3-4 bags of IV fluids in her, did an MRI and sent her home without finishing the paperwork to sign her up for Medi-Cal.
This will be special.

Joy.
So, my bank and I are trying to figure out what happened to a payment I sent to someone. They sent me an 'in site' email telling me the check number and suggesting that I check to see if it ever cleared because 'billpayer' can't actually look at my account. Of course, there's no way to track an individual check in the 'account' side either!!! There's also no way to reply to a message. Nor anyway to email the bank.
So now I have to call them. Joy.

[Link] | Ok, taxes are ready to mail. (Hey, I owe! I ain't mailing early!!) I had to jump through a couple of hoops and re-print my W-2 from on-line because somehow, I lost the original.
I went to karaoke tonight and had quite a lot of fun. Big Bad John made an appearance. Bruce elected me as new torturer when he got to the end of the songs snafflekid had picked out. The first song I picked for him was 'Delta Dawn'.
So on the round before he looked at my selections he assigned me 'Delta Dawn'. I made an "Oh, that's funny!!" comment and sang it. Then turned to him and said "No, Bruce, the list I gave you was for you to sing!!" I then suggested that he just skip the first song on the list I gave him.
He sang 'Delta Dawn' anyway.
For my first song he gave me "At This Moment". Which I hate. But I sang anyway. And did quite a good job on.
*sigh*
Now I'm torn, I sang it well, I should add it to my envelope, but I hate it, so I shouldn't.
After bar, Bruce and Timmie came to my place and we had bacons and french toasts.
